In 2020, the State Historical Society of Missouri digitized all of the photographs and letters from servicemen and servicewomen during WW2. All of the letters that were digitized contained unique writing, images, signatures, greetings, and locations of where they were sent from.

Robert Allen wrote to his father, Henry Allen, from the Pacific Theatre, Feb. 10, 1945. Allen speaks about why he is fighting and the value he is receiving from his present experiences in his letter. Unfortunately, Lieutenant Allen was killed in action on May 5, 1945, in Okinawa.
